Quinney lost a playoff last week at the Scholarship American Showdown at Somerby, but has a plan for Sunday.

 

"I just want to go out there tomorrow and go as low as I can," said Quinney, who won the 2004 Oregon Classic. "I've got to shoot seven- or eight-under to have a chance to win. I've been in this situation the past couple of weeks so hopefully that will help."

 

"I holed my fair share of putts," said Flanagan, who hit 17 of 18 greens on Saturday. "I pretty much holed everything that I looked at. It was one of those things where you just get on a roll."

 

Stephen Marino posted a seven-under 65 on Saturday and is alone in ninth place at minus-17. Ryan Armour (63) and Jess Daley (66) are tied for 10th place at 16-under-par 200.

 

This was Woods' third British Open title and first at a venue other than St. Andrews. It was his 11th major championship to tie Walter Hagen for second all-time in professional majors. This marked Woods first major title since last year's British Open and the win was his third this season on the PGA Tour.

 

DiMarco, who lost to Woods in a playoff at the 2005 Masters, shot a four-under 68 to take second place at 16-under-par 272. Ernie Els, the 2002 British Open champion, posted a one-under 71 and finished alone in third place at 13-under- par 275.

 

Sergio Garcia, who was trying for his first major in the final group with Woods, struggled again on Sunday. He posted a two-over-par 73 and tied for fifth place with Hideto Tanihara, who shot a 71 in the final round. The pair came in at 11-under-par 277.

 

"It's a shame," said Garcia. "That's the way it goes sometimes. I definitely didn't play the way I should have scored today. I hit a lot of good shots that were just on the wrong side."

 

This is not the only time that Garcia has been in contention in a big event only to play poorly on Sunday. He was in the hunt for the 2002 U.S. Open at Bethpage, then went into the final round this year at the Players Championship one off the lead, but shot a 78 on Sunday and tied for 14th place.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. The Steelers jumped on Baltimore early, building a 13-0 first half lead, and never let up on their way to a fairly easy win. Although the Ravens did close to within two points in the fourth quarter, it never appeared as if they had enough offense to pull off the upset.

The Steelers dominating defense held Baltimore to a total of 198 yards while allowing them to convert just three third downs in 13 attempts. Pittsburgh also forced quarterback Joe Flacco into three interceptions, one of which safety Troy Polamalu returned fourty yards for a touchdown.

The Cardinals, by far the playoff team with the longest odds to reach Super Bowl XLIII, did so yesterday with a 32-25 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship. Arizona charged out of the gates and built a 24-6 halftime lead that had the Eagles venerable defense reeling. Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald did most of the damage, connecting on three first half touchdowns.

Arizona, however, could not sustain their momentum and the Eagles took a 25-24 with 10:45 left to play in the fourth. The Cardinals, with the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance hanging in the balance, mounted a fourteen play, 72 yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:52 off the clock. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
